Dozens of local officials and representatives of media and local organizations including Connecticut Sea Grant joined a tour of the South Fork Wind project, located off the south shore of Long Island, on May 14.
Hosted by project partners Ørsted and Eversource, along with the Southeastern Connecticut Enterprise Region (seCTer) and the Connecticut Wind Collaborative, a ferry chartered for the tour traveled 35 miles offshore to the site of the first-in-the-nation utility scale offshore wind farm. The 12 turbines will supply power to New York.
Turbines for the project were staged and assembled at State Pier in New London, which is now staging components for the Revolution Wind project that will supply power to Connecticut and Rhode Island.
