Connecticut Sea Grant will work towards achieving healthy coastal and marine ecosystems and consequent public benefits by supporting integrated locally and nationally relevant research, outreach and education programs in partnership with stakeholders.
Sea Grant is a national network comprised of 34 university-based and consortium programs and The Sea Grant Collection housed at the NOAA Central Library. Sea Grant programs are based mainly at flagship universities in U.S. coastal and Great Lake states and territories. The National Sea Grant College Program encourages the wise stewardship of our marine resources through research, education, outreach and technology transfer. How is Connecticut Sea Grant funded?
Connecticut Sea Grant (CTSG) is funded principally through the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), with matching funds from the State of Connecticut, through the University of Connecticut.
The program has three foci: research, outreach, and education. Outreach efforts include the CTSG Extension Program, and its Communications Program. The program also has an administrative staff committed to promoting understanding of the Sea Grant mission.
