Sylvain De Guise
Director
Sylvain De Guise has been director of the Connecticut Sea Grant College Program since 2005 and professor in the Department of Pathobiology and Veterinary Science at the University of Connecticut since 1998. He specializes in animal toxicology, specifically how chemical exposures impact marine animal health, and runs a research lab at UConn. He has studied lobsters, shellfish and fish, and has special expertise in dolphins and whales that he drew on when leading research on the impacts of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill on dolphins in the Gulf of Mexico. After completing veterinary school, he continued studies in veterinary pathology and earned a doctorate in immunotoxicology.
