Connecticut municipalities, community organizations, or land trusts looking for assistance with climate adaptation work are invited to seek help from UConn Climate Corps students.

The Climate Corps is an extension program in which undergraduate students (mainly juniors and seniors) work with a Connecticut community to complete a climate adaptation project for that partner organization. Students have worked on all types of projects, from developing outreach materials on climate change to designing riparian buffers to community vulnerability assessments. Climate Corps students have worked with towns, cities, watershed groups and land trusts across the state. You can check out past examples of student work here!

Climate Corps faculty are currently compiling a list of climate adaptation projects for the Spring 2026 semester. Students are expected to work about nine hours per week on their project. Community partners are expected to meet virtually at the beginning of the spring semester (mid-January) with students to explain the project, answer emails from students in a timely manner, and participate in an end of the semester (early May) online presentation so that the students can share their findings. We are generally looking for projects that students can research and complete from campus as not all students can travel.

If you have a potential project(s), please send us a couple of sentences describing what you would like to have accomplished.

Please email Owen Placido (CT Sea Grant) at: owen.placido@uconn.edu with your project idea or any questions about the program.
