The Fall-Winter 2024-2025 issue of Wrack Lines has been selected as a Silver Award winner in the 2025 ACE Critique and Awards Program.
The issue highlights the personal essays of six youth who were awarded Connecticut Sea Grant writing scholarships and given the opportunity to share how they view their relationship to nature. The issue can be found here.
“How powerful to hear from the next generation,” said Sylvain De Guise, director of Connecticut Sea Grant. “This gives us a long-term perspective to frame our work in preserving important features and resources.”
ACE, the Association for Communication Excellence in Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Life and Human Sciences, is a national organization of communications professionals and educators who extend knowledge about natural and life sciences. It offers professional development and connection opportunities for those who work with and for educational, governmental, and research institutions and associated organizations and companies.
“I am honored to accept this award on behalf of our student writers and their mentors,” said Judy Benson, Wrack Lines editor and communications coordinator at Connecticut Sea Grant. “These young writers conveyed important messages about their relationship to nature and the environment they are inheriting that I am proud to share with Wrack Lines readers. I am also grateful to Connecticut Sea Grant for supporting the scholarship program that made this special issue possible.”
