Long Island Sound teacher workshops offered this fall

Two teacher workshops on how to use Long Island Sound as the basis for life and earth science lessons will be offered in September. Offered by Connecticut Sea Grant in partnership with SoundWaters, the Long Island Sound Study, the Norwalk Seaport Association and Copps Island Oyster Co., both workshops are aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards and will include both on-water and land-based activities.

The first, titled “Evidence of Environmental Change in the Long Island Sound: A Workshop for Secondary Life and Earth Science Teachers,” will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 7 at Harbor Center at Boccuzzi Park in Stamford. The second, “Discover the Estuary Ecosystems of Long Island Sound,” will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 5 at Sheffield Island in Norwalk.
