Funding supports research on fishing community, offshore wind
The Northeast Sea Grant Consortium, in partnership with NOAA’s Northeast Fisheries Science Center, announces a research funding opportunity to improve understanding of fishing community interactions with offshore wind development in the Northeast.
Registration open for 2024 shellfish farming course
Foundations of Shellfish Farming is a training course for new and prospective farmers and those who simply seek to learn more about aquaculture practices and techniques. It will meet on Tuesdays from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. from Jan. 16 to April 2 at UConn Avery Point. Financial aid is available.

3 early marine career professionals chosen as Knauss fellows
Connecticut Sea Grant will sponsor three early career marine science and policy professionals in one-year paid fellowships as part of the 2024 class of the John A. Knauss Marine Policy Fellowship program.
2023-24 Coastal & Marine Economics Graduate Fellowship open
The Coastal and Marine Economics Graduate Fellowship Program was established to enable selected graduate students to conduct independent fundamental or applied economic research for one year under the guidance of their academic advisor. Applications are due on May 5.
2024 Knauss fellowship applications period now open
CTSG is accepting Knauss Fellowship applications from graduate students for the one-year period anticipated to begin February 1, 2024. This opportunity provides a unique educational experience to students interested in ocean and coastal resources and in the national policy decisions affecting them.
Marine life, human-sea interactions to be explored by researchers
Six research projects exploring various facets of Long Island Sound and the wider marine environment have been selected by CTSG for the 2022-2024 funding cycle. Four will focus on marine life amid changing environmental conditions. One will look at community behaviors in response to flood risks, while the sixth will focus on human relationships with the ocean.
