9 projects focus on LIS marshes, water quality, public beaches

Long Island Sound water quality, salt marsh and public beach characteristics will be examined by marine and social scientists in nine research projects awarded funding by the Connecticut and New York Sea Grant programs and the EPA’s Long Island Sound Study.

Call for proposals issued for CECs research projects

The CECs project announces a request for proposals (RFP) for a regional research competition focused on Contaminants of Emerging Concern (CECs), focused on the Atlantic Coast. Proposals are encouraged for projects of up to 18 months requesting up to $150,000. Letters of intent are due by Sept. 23, 2022.

A cleaner city park means a cleaner Long Island Sound

Eighty-four pounds worth of the debris of modern civilization that would have polluted Long Island Sound instead ended up in trash bags on Aug. 15, when a small crew from CT Sea Grant and Save the Sound partnered on a two-hour cleanup at Seaside Park in Bridgeport.
